Anoectochilus formosanus (Jewel Orchid)
Another stunning addition to our collection of unusual and rare plants - Anoectochilus formosanus or a jewel orchid. Jewel orchid are known and praised, unlike other orchid, for their leaves rather than flowers. They're plant collectors' favorites and are very rare to find in Ireland!
Anoectochilus formosanus boasts dark green leaves with red undersides and silver veining that looks like lightning bolts, especially when the sun hits them! They love humidity and will feel great in pots filled with sphagnum moss, that's kept evenly moist throughout the year. They'll be a perfect addition to your terrariums!
Your plant comes in a 6 cm pot and is approx 10 cm tall.
Light: Medium. Avoid direct sun, as it will damaged leaves, but otherwise a bright spot is essential!
Min light - 200 FC, Good Growth - 400 FC+
Water: High. The best medium for them is sphagnum moss, that needs to be kept evenly moist, but not soaking wet. Water it when it's almost dry (but not completely dry) to touch.
Pets: Non-toxic to cats and dogs.
