Opuntia Vulgaris - Prickly Pear Cactus
Opuntia Vulgaris is also know as a Prickly Pear cactus (guess why!) is a tree-like variety of cactus.
Relatively long lasting stunning silvery yellow flowers appear in Summer followed by red-purple egg shaped edible fruit.
It comes in a 18 cm pot and is approximately 45 cm tall.
Light: High. As much light as you can give them, as much direct sun as you can give them. They'll be sad if left in a dark corner, but they'll be very-very slow to show it.
Min 400 FC, Good Growth 800 FC.
Water: Low. The soil need to get completely dry, and then a bit dryer, before you need to water your cactus baby. Keep completely dry in winter. During summer water plenty though - think of a torrential rain once a year in Sahara - it rains very rarely, but it's like a flood.
Pets: Non-toxic to pets, but definitely painful if they try to bite it!
