Zamioculcas zamiifolia Super Nova (ZZ Plant)
ZZ Plant (shortened from a spelling competition worthy name Zamioculcas zamiifolia) occupies its rightful place as one of the most popular house plants these days. Probably the first time you saw it, you thought it was fake - its glossy green leaves and overall waxy coating give it that almost unnatural perfect look. While being completely real, ZZ will demand as much fo your time as taking care of an artificial plant. That means even when travel resumes, and you're away for several weeks - it's gonna greet you back with the same gorgeous looks!
This variety boasts a much darker, mysterious shade of green, which makes it look almost black.
Your plant comes in a 17 cm nursery pot and is approx 75 cm tall. As nursery pots often deformed from rapidly growing roots you may feel an urge to report it. But there is no need to do it straight away - ZZ plant loves when it's tight. Although we would recommend a bigger pot (21cm+) to go with it to make sure it fits inside.
Light: Low-Medium. Similar to Sansevieria, ZZ plant is very tolerable to low light. However in his case he's much more prone to root rot in case of watering, so a good rule of thumb will be - the lower the light, the less the watering.
Min light - 50 FC, Good Growth - 100-200 FC
Water: Low. Water it when the soil is fully dry - you know it's dry when the pot with the plant feels light. Or use the stick method - put a chopstick fully in, and take it out - if there's no soil stuck - it's time to water. It's much more tolerant to you forgetting to water it vs watering too often.
Pets: Toxic to cats and dogs.
